If veterans in Indiana qualify for the disabled veteran
license plate, the BMV will issue a permanent handicap parking placard upon
request.
“This is a simple benefit we wanted to provide to our
Hoosier veterans with disabilities,” Frye said. “This will remove the need for
veterans to frequently renew disabled parking permits and replaces it with an
easily obtained lifetime placard veterans can carry and use from vehicle to
vehicle.”
The new law goes into effect July 1, 2018.
